Valspar Championship Round 1

Sungjae Im surged to the top of the leaderboard in the opening round, carding a brilliant 7-under par 64. Returning from a wrist injury that sidelined him for two months, Im showed no signs of rust, highlighted by a spectacular eagle on the par-five 1st hole and another on the 11th. His performance was a masterclass in efficiency, finding rhythm early to secure a one-stroke lead over his nearest competitor. Veteran Brandt Snedeker sits in solo second at 6-under par after a resurgent 65, fueled by a hot start with three birdies in his first four holes. Davis Thompson occupies third place at 5-under par, aided by an eagle of his own on the 11th. The day featured a high-scoring start for several marquee names; Jordan Spieth and Sam Ryder both recorded eagles on the opening hole to stay within striking distance. Meanwhile, the afternoon wave faced slightly tougher conditions as the wind gusted to 10 mph, leaving the early starters with a distinct advantage heading into Friday.
